Abstract

The computational governing of multiphase flow presents serious practical problems when it aims to answer basic questions: what the model equations are and how we should try to solve the proposed equations. Time-dependent one-dimensional two-phase flow has the position of major importance in thermal hydraulics needed for the safety analyses of nuclear power plants. With primary interest in this topic, VTT's answers to these basic questions are a modelling method, SFAV, and a numerical method, PLIM. The research has been financed by VTT Energy, the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (STUK) and the Academy of Finland.
