Abstract
Test methods for aroma barrier and related challenges are presented. So far, there have not been widely accepted methods or specifications for aroma transfer. New tools, such as KCL AromaBar, have been constructed. AromaBar utilizes automatic sampling followed by gas chromatographic and numerical analysis. Model aroma solutions were also developed. This method can be used for flat materials. We also studied effect of base sheet. Aroma barrier of polymer coated sheets can be improved by base paper/board.
