Abstract
The presentation provides a synthesising overview on Nordic foresight exercises, with a specific emphasis on policy-relevant exercises. The presentation suggests it is possible to talk about a Nordic 'foresight wave' in 2000s. The 'foresight wave' was based on a common policy culture in Nordic countries that emphasises wide societal consensus and integration of multiple stakeholders in the policy-making processes. The first section unfurls the specificities of the Nordic context and the Nordic foresight actors. The second section opens a perspective towards Nordic foresight processes. The foresight processes under scrutiny combine multiple methods and aim at forming policy recommendations on the Nordic scale. Two case studies, Nordic Hydrogen Foresight and Nordic ICT Foresight, are examined. The third section provides future-oriented reflections on the Nordic 'foresight wave', and discusses its positive aspects and potential bottlenecks.
