Abstract

The publication is a collection of the presentations and discussions at IAEA/NPPCI Specialists' Meeting on "Nuclear Power Plant Training Simulators" held in Otaniemi, Finland, in September 1983.The programme was divided into six sessions: The role and use of simulators for operator training, Reports on training simulator realization projects, User experience on simulators, New developments in simulation models, methods and equipment, Reduced scope and basic principle simulators and Use of training simulators in research and development.Safety and economy in nuclear power plant operation call for improved operator and technical staff training. An efficient way to achieve this goal is to use training simulators as a control facility to support the training programmes. The existing training simulators have been and will be used in developing and testing new concepts and methods applied in power plant information processing systems.
