This work has been supported by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 767642 (L4MS). The authors would like to thank MURAPLAST company for providing the factory data, and consortium partners developing modules of OPIL, especially Andrea Caielli and Walter Quadrini from Politecnico di Milano as developers of the RAN; Vladimir Kuts and Sergei Jegorov form IMECC (Innovative Manufacturing Engineering Systems Competence Centre) as developers of the SAN; Peter Detzner and Dennis L?nsch from Fraunhofer IML as developers of the Task Planner, and Petri Tikka and Joni Minkkinen from VTT Technical Research Center of Finland, Tampere, as developers of the HMI.

N2 - In this paper, we present the control of a robotic system for automation in manufacturing logistics based on the Open Platform for Innovations in Logistics (OPIL). OPIL is developed in the scope of the European H2020 project Smart logistics for manufacturing SMEs (L4MS), which aims to contend with the ubiquitous challenges in logistics for flexible manufacturing small and medium enterprises (SMEs). We developed the sensing and perception software module as part of OPIL, and a custom navigation module integrated with OPIL. We also developed a novel omnidirectional automated guided vehicle (AGV) suited for transporting the Euro-pallets with the payload of up to 400 kg. We use MURAPLAST d.o.o., the leading producer of Polyethylene (PE) blown film in Croatia, as a case study which demonstrates the effectiveness of the developed system in manufacturing logistics.
