    Abstract

The definition of a strategic research agenda (SRA) for the development of a distributed, hierarchical sensor network to control the operation and to enable maintenance-on-demand of off-shore wind parks is one of the principal objectives of the OMO project. The SRA is aimed at identifying future research needs to be addressed by the AERTOS partners in follow-up projects ensuring long term cooperation between those RTO's. The SRA will be derived from benchmark and feasibility studies performed by the participating RTOS and it will be based on a state of the art review of the pertinent research fields. The proposed research aims at minimizing the cost of the generated energy over the life time by combining advanced system models and real-time information received from hierarchical sensor networks and weather forecasts to adapt wind park and wind turbine operation.
