    Abstract

This chapter discusses the method for determination of probability of failure in risk-based inspection (RBI) and life management of coal power plants. It begins by reviewing the basic principles and requirements for RBI in CWA 15740:2008 before examining the RIMAP procedure (Risk-based Inspection and Maintenance Procedures for European Industry). The chapter also covers the requirements for a PoF (Probability of Failure) analysis, and assesses PoF and damage/failure rates data. The chapter concludes with sections on the RIMAP method for determination of PoF, and practical applications of the approach.
