Abstract

Ship vibration and noise problems as well as some hydrodynamical aspects are discussed. An overall view on ship vibration problems together with future trends is given.Calculational methods concerning substructure synthesis, fluid-structure interaction and shafting vibration are presented.Prediction methods for noise propagation as well as some practical experiences on noise problems in ships are discussed.Design aspects of contra-rotating and highly-loaded propellers are treated.Numerical solution methods for seakeeping and some special hydrodynamic problems are presented.Speed and manoeuvrability measurements during sea trials are discussed. Some aspects on the propulsion and resistance properties of simple hull forms are presented.
