    Abstract

Product data technology (PDT) plays an important role in the development of concurrent engineering IT environments for A/E/C. This paper presents an overview of the developed product data management information server (PROMISE) in the EU ESPRIT project ToCEE, focusing on the basic requirements and concepts for PDT from the point of view of concurrent engineering, the conceptual features of the server, the interoperability issues in a multi-server/client environment and the specific product data services for concurrent engineering support. It reflects the experiences from the first running prototype implementation of PROMISE.
