Abstract
Using open source components (OSC) is expected to provide a lot of
benefits such as cost-savings and high-quality source code and applications.
Using OSCs within in-house software requires integration which may be far from
straightforward due to architecture mismatches. In this paper, we introduce a
product family approach for integration of in-house software and OSCs. In
addition an integration micro architecture as an implementation of the product
family approach is presented. The micro architecture enables adding new
responsibilities, controlling activities and translation independents
of the integrated component, which is of particular benefit in integrating
constantly evolving OSCs.
