title = "Puuenergian teknologiaohjelman katsaus 1999-2000",
abstract = "The Tekes Wood Energy Technology Programme focuses on developing the production technology and improving the quality of forest chips from logging residues and small-sized trees. In 1999 the use of forest chips amounted in Finland to 0.56 million m 3 solid. The target of the Programme is to raise the use to 2.5 million m 3 solid in 2003. This is to be achieved mainly with chips from logging residues from regeneration areas because of their lower cost of production. The programme also aims to develop quality control and storage of solid wood fuels from industrial process residues. In June 2000, the Programme consisted of 15 research institute projects, 15 industrial projects and 6 demonstration projects. The total cost of these 36 ongoing projects is estimated to be 75 million FIM. Information about the programme, approved research projects, research results and progress is published in magazines and journals, at seminars and in the yearbook of the programme. The Programme also participates in international co-operation such as EU's ALTENER programme for promoting renewable energy sources, IEA Bioenergy Agreement (Task 18 - Conventional Forestry Systems for Bioenergy) and EU's OPET network (Organisations Promoting Energy Technology).",
