Abstract

The purpose of the project is to develop the production and handling of wood fuel for small-scale use. The aim was to improve the production and delivery methods as well as the technology so that the fuel quality is adequate and the costs are competitive. The project included four sub-projects, which concentrated on more efficient wood fuel drying, fuel handling at the storage site, handling technique for pellets and wood chips, and the impacts of wood pellet raw materials and structure on the handling durebility and combustion emissions. Experimental studies, both in laboratory and as field tests, were carried out in the project, and the calculation models were developed for wood fuel dying.
