PVDF contact probes

Abstract

Three types of contact probes are discussed in this research. The probes investigated were a focussing angle beam probe, a normal incidence probe and an acoustic emission probe. Some characteristics of PVDF foils for probe design are also dealt with. A probe design program was used to calculate two types of probes in order to determine the properties and behaviour of these PVDF foils. The program used is based on the KLM-model. Calculated and measured pulses and frequency spectra were compared. The results agree well with the theoretical estimations. Deviations from the theoretical calculations and measurements are discussed.
