The true freedom of design is a key advantage for building applied, building integrated and interior energy harvesting. VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd has developed a mass production method based on printing technologies to manufacture 2D-patterned printed solar modules to meet desired visual appearance for buildings and to form a value in architecture. Free-form designs enable wide exploitation of solar modules as a natural part of the buildings thus, opening new opportunities. As an example, building integrated façade concept in which solar modules are symbolizing Chinese calligraphy was prepared and, laminated inside the façade glass.
