    Abstract

VTT Energy co-ordinates the national FFUSION research programme and the Finnish activities in the European fusion programme. Finnish fusion research was integrated into the European programme by the contract of association between Tekes and Euratom, which defines the research areas of the Association Euratom-Tekes. Fusion and plasma engineering research at VTT Energy is carried out in close collaboration with Helsinki University of Technology, JET (Joint European Torus) and other associated laboratories, such as Aselex experiment in Germany and Tore Supra in France. VTT Energy provides plasma simulation studies and modelling related to radio-frequency heating experiments. The work includes development of powerful simulation codes. In addition, VTT Energy also participates in the design of the ITER radio-frequency antenna in collaboration with VTT Manufacturing Technology and IVO Technology Centre.
