Research output: Book/ReportReport

Abstract

The main aim of the research programme was to gather and create adequate information needed in the assessment of the structural integrity of the reactor pressure vessels made of the steels concerned. Special emphasis was on the microstructural characteristics and basic mechanical properties evaluation as a function of varying heat treatments. An additional objective was to generate technical data for pressure vessel manufacturing, especially heat treating. As a result of the programme recommendations for austenitizing and tempering treatments could be given. The microstructure after a wide variety of heat treatments proved to be granular bainite.
