Abstract

The European research community is actively working toward implementation of the first permanent geological disposal of spent nuclear fuel. Finland has been in a lead role in developing safe technologies, often in partnership with researchers and organisations world-wide. The article gives a synopsis of ten ongoing or recently complemented European projects in which Finland, mainly Posiva, VTT as well as B+Tech Oy, has ad an active role in scientific development.
