    Abstract

This paper presents results of a project where we researched sensor networks, mainly RFID based, and use of SDL in design and simulation of RFID sensor network protocols. The purpose of this project was to gain knowledge of the current status of RFID sensor networks and gather information about usefulness of SDL in sensor networks software engineering. In the process a simulator of an RFID sensor network communication protocol was implemented with an SDL tool.
