Abstract
Printed intelligence and electronics is based on fluid-processable organic and inorganic materials, printing-based large-area fabrication processes and functional devices such as thin film transistors and other electronics components and circuits, organic LEDs, organic solar cells, batteries and variety of electrical, chemical and biosensing devices. In this paper the enabling technology basis of roll-to-roll (R2R) printed flexible sensing devices is introduced focusing on materials issues, continuously-running R2R printing and other processing methods, fabrication tools, sensor devices and a memory device. The R2R fabricated capacitive proximity sensor, resistive touch sensor, gas sensor and moisture sensor are introduced and two sensing system demonstrators - a questionnaire card and a touch user interface are shown as system applications.
