    Abstract

This paper presents the five major sector coupling scenarios that have been defined in the European Community’s (EC) H2020 research project PLANET (Planning and operational tools for optimising energy flows & synergies between energy networks) [1] and provides a detailed description of three of these scenarios. Furthermore, it gives an overview of the PLANET Decision Support System, which allows various stakeholders in the energy domain to simulate future energy scenarios and to assess optimal strategies for resolving grid issues, and it shows for one exemplary scenario how the PLANET DSS is used. Finally, business models for three sector coupling scenarios are set out and discussed.
