Abstract

A novel shared packet compressor and decompressor system for OTDM is proposed. The system can process multiple packets simultaneously, promoting high utilization of optical components. Its operation is based on bit reordering, which allows an elegant implementation. Depending on implementation all-optical 2R or 3R regeneration can be provided.
