Abstract

The extended abtract and the presentation describe the modeling work and show results of dynamic simulation studies conducted with Apros in EU project FLEXI BURN CFB. The modeling is briefly presented, including a circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boiler with air/oxy-firing, turbine island, and carbon dioxide purification unit. Also ASU-CFB interface was modeled to bring possible operational challenges of the directly linked oxygen production and boiler into scope of the simulation. The model includes basic control loops and other control structures needed to manage major operational situations, such as load changes and air/oxy firing mode change, which are also illustrated by simulation results.
