    Abstract

The epithermal neutron-photon treatment beam model is one of the basic elements in assuring the reliability of the doses in the treatment planning of the boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT). The beam model includes the nuclear reactor to generate the fission neutrons, the moderator to moderate the fission neutrons to epithermal neutrons with a small fast neutron and photon contamination, the collimator to collimate the epithermal neutrons and some surrounding materials, like part of a concrete shielding. The source model includes the source description at a plane at a known location near the exit plane of the collimator.
