Abstract

Spatio-temporal chaos in the transverse section of gyrotron resonators was investigated. The effect of the azimuthal mode number on the stability of gyrotron oscillations was studied for different values of mode number. Results showed that the azimuthal index of the mode of a gyrotron which operated both in the fundamental and second harmonic should be ≲23.
