Abstract

The third symposium on basic peat research was held again in Jyväkylä. The organization background of this every second year occurring meeting was the co-operation group of Vapo Co/Ltd, Jyväskylä University and the Technical Research Centre of Finland.The presentations in the symposium concentrated mainly on the chemistry of peat.Some studies were also presented on the physical properties of peat and the environmental aspects of peat production. The state of art on peat research in the States and in Finland were also presented.
