Switching system and method for switching a control rod assembly between a plurality of fuel assemblies in a nuclear reactor

According to an example aspect of the present disclosure, there is provided a switching system comprising a frame, a magazine movably attached to the frame, the magazine comprising holding positions each configured to receive a fuel assembly, an extractor provided to the frame, and a first drive train, which is configured to provide respective movement between the magazine and the frame for selectively aligning any one of the holding positions with the extractor, where the extractor is configured to: attach to a drive assembly or a control rod assembly, or a drive assembly and a control rod assembly of one of the fuel and control modules, and to extract a control rod assembly from a fuel assembly located in one of the holding positions and to introduce the control rod assembly to a fuel assembly located in another holding position.
