    Abstract

This paper presents the system architecture designed by the ICT FP7 OPTIMIX project to enable enhanced multimedia streaming in a point to multi-point context on wireless heterogeneous systems. The peculiarity of the OPTIMIX system is the introduction of new control blocks, i.e., controllers and observer, to efficiently handle the optimization of the multimedia transmissions. The controllers, by collecting information from many points of the network and from different layers of the protocol stack, properly set the configuration parameters of the transmission stack.
