Abstract
This chapter introduces the reader to main system design concepts and gives a generic outline of phases and steps performed in system design. First, the scope of system design is discussed. Next, the phases called System Design - Refinement and System Design - Partitioning are addressed. Finally, considerations about reuse of system design know-how are expressed.
