    Abstract

Transformation of tag technology from logistic related proprietary solutions into consumer devices establishes new user interface paradigms and requires new tools and infrastructure, This paper first presents a set of tag based applications to be accessed with a mobile phone with tag readers. Certain problems and conflicts are identified when putting these applications in the same phone. Based on properties and special requirements of the applications we derive requirements for a middleware component, which would make possible for various services to coexist in the same phone and use same tags in a personalized way by users. An outline of the middleware component, the Tag Manager, is presented.
