Abstract
The demand for emission monitoring systems is increasing. For example, the EU Regulation on methane emissions contains rules for improved measurement, reporting, and verification of energy sector methane emissions, as well as an immediate reduction in emissions through mandatory leak detection and repair. This paper studies data management and data sharing in the context of collaborative emission monitoring, which utilises remote sensing data such as satellite and drone data, to support monitoring, reporting, and maintenance activities at industrial sites.
The study contributes to the data management literature and provides valuable insights for practitioners. First, three options to organise collaboration in emission monitoring are presented. Second, data supply strategies, data integration, and data productisation for collaborative emission monitoring are analysed. Third, a comparison is made of the collaboration options.
