The technology barometer is a globally unique instrument
that measures the state of technological and scientific
expertise and development in a given country. The
barometer comprises 12 indicators that provide an
index-type key value that measures the state of
technology at a given time.
The barometer is based on models depicting the
development of society that see us evolving from an
information society, through a knowledge society, towards
a knowledge-value society. The barometer data thus
illustrate a transitional phase and provide an overall
image of how far we have come in our journey towards a
knowledge-value society. At the same time, it also
indicates how effectively the development in question
complies with the principles of sustainable development.
