    Abstract

One of the possible threats for a nuclear power plant is an intentional large passenger aircraft impact against, for example, the reactor building of the plant. Resistance of the structures against such an impact is shown with predictive models which have to be validated against relevant experimental data. The phenomena that arise in such a crash were studied experimentally as well as numerically and analytically within SAFIR2014 research projects IMPACT2014 and SMASH.
