Abstract

The Eastern part of Helsinki is growing fast. New urban areas have been designed both inland and on-shore of this sub-urban zone, called Vuosaari. It forms an interesting area for city planning due to demands of the new infrastructure, natural shore-lines with protected natural areas and the close situation of the new Port of Helsinki. Thus when planning a new small craft marina a lot of design parameters were affected the final design, however, environmental protection issues had the greatest impact. This paper describes a marina design concept for 1000 boats and yachts in connection with the city planning phase.
