    Abstract

The way of displaying process information in the control room effects the formation of the work orientation. Thus, there is a need to specify what information and how should be displayed, e.g. what mode, form or hierarchical structure would best facilitate the operator's ability to understand and exert flexible control over the process.

A set of criteria for use of visual information will be necessary. This paper presents a general methodology of deriving the criteria and discusses practical aspects for the realisation of such criteria in the context of nuclear power plant.
