    Abstract

APROS process simulation environment has been created for the dynamic simulation of conventional and nuclear plant processes and chemical plant processes. In the area of nuclear plant simulation Nuclear Plant Analyzers (NPA) that are able to describe the PWR and BWR plants and the VVER-type plants have been the main area of the development. Three-dimensional core description can be included in all plant analyzer types. The three-dimensional core model consist of three-dimensional core neutronics described with a finite-difference model and one-dimensional thermal hydraulic channels where various thermal hydraulic model alternatives can be used. APROS three-dimensional core models have been designed to be used interactively via graphical user interface as an integral part of the plant analyzer. The paper describes the three-dimensional core model of APROS nuclear plant analyzer, gives overview of various types of cores described either for extensive plant analyzers or for calculation of core benchmarks, and gives examples of some asymmetric core transient types that can be studied with the full three-dimensional core model of Loviisa Plant Analyzer.
