    Abstract

Networking technologies, service gateways, and emerging middleware solutions are making development and deployment of services into heterogeneous Small Office and Home (SOHO) networks fast and easy. However, due to various users, untrustworthy components, and vulnerable technologies, critical assets of common users are threatened by insider attacks. Therefore, easy-to-use authorization solutions for protecting SOHO services are needed. This paper surveys security and privacy threats, requirements, and existing solutions. Further, architecture for middleware based authorization is proposed.
