Abstract

We have been focusing on the social implications and acceptability of emerging technologies when participating in the technological development projects. We have built up ethical guidelines and the "ethics by design" approach for the designing of various applications, based e.g. on micro- and nanotechnology. Designing a research approach that takes into account concepts like responsibility, sustainability or ethics is challenging, but vital for the constructive and positive co-development of future technologies, applications and services
