Triple Helix linkages and dynamics in the university-based regional knowledge clusters: Case optoelectronics

    Abstract

    This paper examines the Triple Helix model kind of linkages and dynamics of the university based regional knowledge cluster in the field of optoelectronics in the Tampere city region. The picture of the knowledge cluster is formulated by the roles and links by which each party is intertwined. Attention is also given to the actors` possible links out of the region. While describing the regional knowledge cluster of optoelectronics the paper emphasizes the role of complementary knowledge and its role in a rising up of a new field of discipline and for more the industry based on it.
