abstract = "Wind power production from grid connected wind turbines in Finland was 261 GWh in 2008. This corresponds to 0.3 % of Finland's electricity consumption. Installed wind capacity was 143 MW at the end of the year. Number of the operating turbines was 118. Eleven new turbines, 33 MW were installed in 2008. Wind energy receives investment subsidies and a production subsidy of 0.69 c/kWh. The amount of the investment subsidy for new technology projects is up to 40 % of the total investment. The exact amount is granted separately for each project. The new climate and energy strategy has a target of 2 000 MW wind power in 2020 and currently a feed-in tariff system is being planned to start in 2010. The rated power of wind power plants has continued to rise steadily. The average size of all turbines in Finland was 1 212 kW at the end of 2008 (1 028 kW at the end of 2007). Year 2008 had average wind resource. The weighted production index for the four sea areas was 97 %. Average capacity factor of standard wind turbines, which operated the whole year, was 22 % while the best turbine yielded 37 % capacity factor. Technical availability of the standard wind power plants was 96 % in 2008. The average age of wind turbines was 8.2 years at the end of 2008. This report contains production and availability figures of the grid connected wind turbines in Finland as well as component summary of failure statistics. There is an English list of figure and table captions and the yearly statistics table is as an appendix.",
