    Abstract

Improved decision making in maintenance programme development leads to higher profitability. Different sources of data can be utilised in the decision making process. Models for converting data into information and procedures for using this information in order to develop an efficient maintenance programme can be improved. An ongoing VTT project aims to develop procedures to combine the use of different information sources. Using these procedures together with Bayesian approaches, the goal is to obtain a method with which a maintenance programme can be optimised. This paper describes a decision making model and the related procedures to help maintainers use the present information in a better way, and help them find the best way of collecting new important data.
