User-centered design in developing personalized software application supporting cognition

    Abstract

The future TASC system - a stationary memory support system and an array of software modules - will be a pioneer in a new, virtually unexploited market that is expected to grow with the increasing elderly population. The system reminds the user of important events, e.g. taking medicine. The user is also able to make a phone call by touching a photograph of the receiver and browse through the pbotographs in the album by touching the screen. Flexibility in respect of the individual user has been a key issue in the development process, which has been carried out within the principles of user-centred design methodology.
