WAP - a platform for mobile services

Abstract

Mobilephone users will soon be able to access Internet services when Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) enabled mobile phones are introduced. WAP constitutes an open architecture enabling a user to access mobile-aware WAP applications or ordinary Web applicationsfrom a number of different mobile terminals and wireless networks. WAP offers an improved user interface to various value-added services that are now already popular VTT Information Technology has many WAP-related projects, which cover infrastructure issues, like protocol development, as well as application and service development. VTT Information Technology is also a member of WAP Forum, which defines standards for WAP.
