Wave loads of six bow variations by segmented ship models

    Abstract

    Model tests were carried out by segmented ship models for six different bow versions. Discussion of the results and predictions of sagging and hogging moments are given. Hogging moments were in the same order of magnitude for all of the bow version, but differences existed in sagging moments. The sagging moments for the smallest flare angle model was about 20% higher than for the sharpest bow form.
