    Abstract

There is a dearth of Product Data Management (PDM) tools for multi-engineering products. Usually Software Configuration Management (SCM) and PDM tools are focused in different areas, the first on software issues and the latter on mechanical or electronic issues. Nowadays the use of embedded software on electronic devices is increasing. Therefore a system is required that supports the development of multi-technology products. The approach to solve this problem is to use virtual prototypes as the enabling technology to build up a collaborative Product Data Management (cPDM) system. This system acts as an integrator of information systems from different technology domains.
