Abstract
The foam forming of natural fibers into different materials represent an increasinglyapplied method due to its cost-effectiveness. Various potential application areas offoam formed cellulose fiber materials, including tissue paper, packaging materials aswell as some construction materials,r equire wet strength. Required wet strengthproperties depends highly on the application type, for example toilet paper requirestemporary wet strength and insulation material should not be affected by the fluctuatinghumidity. In this novel work polyamidoamide-epichlorohydrin (PAE) as well as potentialbio-based and/or biodegradable wet strength agents are used to increase the wetstrength of cellulose-based foam formed materials. The efficiency of different wetstrength agents was examined by measuring wet tensile index from paper-likematerials and durance against disintegration in water from low-density materials.
