Abstract
It is most economical to renovate bridges when the ratio
between the benefits of the repair and the cost of
renovation is the greatest. The benefits achieved from
renovation consist of improved functional reliability and
safer bridges, slower deterioration rate, and less need
for annual repairs and maintenance
