WHIPSNET: WDM hybrid IP switch network

Abstract

In this paper WHIPSNET, an architecture for IP switching on WDM networks, is presented. Proposed system merges IP switching techniques to passive WDM network which based on multiplexers and crossconnects. Key element in the WHIPSNET is optical packet switch that is electrically controlled.
