Abstract
With the advent of electronic publishing, processes must
be modified or even recreated to produce content that can
be used and distributed through various publishing
channels. One essential requirement is that content
components are stored and described so that they are easy
to locate. This means that metadata is needed to describe
the content resources. In addition to separate metadata,
we can add metadata into the documents themselves by
storing them in the XML format and by tagging them so
that the tags characterisze the content. The drawback of
tagging documents and compiling separate metadata is the
additional work it demands.
