Helmi Hämäläinen is a Research Scientist at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland and a doctoral student at the University of Vaasa, focusing on innovation policy.
Her doctoral research examines how legitimacy shapes the direction and societal acceptance of innovation policy, particularly in the context of sustainability transitions.
At VTT, she contributes to national and European projects on emerging technologies such as AI and quantum computing, as well as lead markets that support the internationalisation and scaling of sustainable innovations.
Her work spans innovation policy, technology governance, and sustainability transitions, with a focus on linking research, policy, and practice to support sustainable growth.
